This week we are happy to have Bedford and Pittsylvania County with us at the W.E. Skelton 4-H Camp! Last night the campers had a carnival for their evening activity, along with the traditional campfire! Here's what some campers had to say about their experience so far:
I love 4-H! This is my 2nd year at camp, so I can get around easily. Last year I was in the Duck pack, and this year I am in the Deer pack. My classes last year were Challenge Course, Archery, Riflery, and another class that I can’t quite remember. I chose Challenge Course last year because I like obstacle courses. I thought it would be something with teamwork, and it was! It was really fun. The best part was watching some kids from Boot Camp being splashed by their instructors. It was funny; I nearly choked on my water! In Archery, I was already used to a bow and arrow. What I didn’t know, was that we used equipment, which I had never used before. The only other time I was in Archery was in Gym class during the school year. We never used equipment on our hands or anything, so I had trouble putting it on and using it. In Riflery, I was great! Not the best, but I think I did well. On the last day of classes, the teacher let us shoot cards!
My classes this year are: Advanced Swimming, Computer Science, Boot Camp, and Advanced Climbing. I have only done 1 class as of now, and that is Advanced Swimming. We practiced Free-Style swimming, and we had a Relay Race at the end. My team won, but I went on the wrong turn.

Last night I went to the carnival. They had cotton candy and snow cones. The best bouncy house there was the race bouncy house. They have a sand pit out side so we played gaga. So far it has been the best camp I have been to!

I had a great time yesterday at the carnival! I had two delicious snow cones. It took a long time to even get a snow cone, but it was worth it! I also got cotton candy! They had To put a lot of that cotton candy stuff inside the machine for it to even work! Well, when I was finished with that I went on the bouncy house. After that we all went to the campfire.

Today I went to kayaking class. When we got there they had us get on a helmet and life jacket for safety. Then they fitted us into a boat that was the right size for us. After that we got launched in the water in the boat and we flipped ourselves just to make sure we knew how to in case we really did flip. After that we learned the parts of the boat and got dismissed to our next class it was a rush for me because I had to get changed in Skelton lodge but we made it on time to our next class.

Yesterday was a very fun day. Here's what happened: For starters we arrived safely at 4-H, then we unpacked to go to our lodges when we got there I learned my roommates names. But in my opinion our CIT was the best, and then we went to open air for the opening ceremony. Then we went to flagpoles for lunch. After lunch the rabbits and I went back to open air for our health check. After that we went to our pack meeting which was right outside open air. We played ninja, and we played assassin or mafia as it’s sometimes called. That was a mere morsel of my day yesterday.

This is my 4th year at 4-H camp and this year is just as good as the last! I am roomingwith two of my best friends. The Carnival was a great start to the week. I got to go on the big inflatable slides and catch up with a friend that is a CIT. THE classes that I have are great! 4-H doesn’t get much better than this!

My first day at camp was fun I enjoyed it very much. The first thing we did was go on a bus to camp at first I was nervous but then I was fine. So I just sat back and relaxed it was fun on my first day we also went swimming and I did a dive for the first time. We also had a carnival it was really fun. I had 3 cotton candies and 2 snow cones. I also went on the bouncy house. I made new friends and hung out with them I hope I have a great rest of the week.

Meeting new people at camp was really an exciting experience. I usually go with Danville and pretty much know everybody but I’m glad I came back for another week. The staff is also really cool and I have really had a great time being with Pittsylvania County.

This will be my 3rd year at camp and my first year as a CIT. so far this is the best year I have had so far; the teen in my room this year is nice and awesome I had him last year too but as my teen even though I haven’t had all my classes, yet I know I will like computer science and archery.

My experience at 4-H is very cool so far! I've made a lot of new friends. The first day was so cool! We had a carnival where we got to play and jump in the bouncy houses. It was a little hard to sleep because I had such a sugar rush on top of being excited for everything else! My group (the Bobcats) has not won the spirit stick yet, but we may! At the carnival they had snow cones, cotton candy, ring toss, splat, and inflatables .I got my face pantied, three snow cones, and one cotton candy!

Yesterday we had a carnival. Hope and I got our faces painted. We raced in the big challenge and the ropes. We had snow cones and cotton candy. At one game I won 25 tickets. Hope and I had a great time the whole time.

I’m having an awesome time here in 4-H camp. I made so many friends in my group and other groups this year. I like my classes I had like archery and multimedia and I like the carnival we had yesterday. 4-H is a great camp, I think I’ll come back next year. I’m sure if I go next year I’ll have an awesome time all summer this year and next year. Thanks for an awesome summer.

I love 4-H camp and this is my first year here and I love everything. I really like the swimming pool. I even got the blue bracelet! I am a really good singer and dancer. And on my card I did not get horsemanship, but I did want swimming and I got it.

So far I have had a great time at 4-H camp. I have made three friends so far and their names are Sade, Hannah, and Kendra. My classes are really great. I would have to say my favorite class so far is Advanced Swimming. The class I am in right now is Computer Science and it is pretty fun. I am really looking forward to Cooking Around the USA! In Advanced Swimming we learned the Freestyle stroke and after it I was really extremely tired. I can’t wait until the Talent Show on Wednesday. I might do something in it I just have not decided. This year I was put in the Deer Pack and my pack is so awesome! I can’t wait to tell my family all about my time at 4-H camp!

I had so much fun at the carnival on Monday. I can't wait until next year! This year was great! Riflery is my favorite class and swimming is my second favorite. My favorite counselor is Hunter Wimmer.

This year is my first year at 4-H camp and it is awesome! My favorite class so far is swimming because I love to swim. I have made some new friends with my room neighbors. My favorite thing we did at camp was the campfire. My pack and I got keep sprit stick to keep over night. At the pool I met my new friend Madison she was so nice and I found out we were going to be going to the same school next year! The teens are really funny this year. This is my first year at 4-H camp and I think I might be coming back for a few more years and become a teen volunteer.

Hi, I'm Isabella and camp has been really fun so far! I am in canoeing and I freaked out there was 2 spiders in my boat, but the instructor quickly got them to go away. I'm having a lot of fun with my roommates Tori, Liah, and Mary. Well, that’s all I have for today!

Hi my name is Rian and I love this camp because the classes are fun . I also have been going to this camp for 3 years now. The camp is like my home this year! I am taking classes far apart from each other, but it is worth the walk . The classes I am taking are Computer Science, Basic Horsemanship, Small Animals, and Advanced Climbing. 4-H camp, don’t stop rocking the world!
